While Spelling Bee is placed in a real world setting, the story and the characters lend themselves to cartoonish situations. The world of the script is one in which the only people who have a firm grasp are the kids, while the adults are busy messing things up. This idea led me to researching cartoons that mirrored this dynamic and from this I began to develop my color palette.
